11-Year-Old Girl Shot While Sleeping on Couch

Detroit, MI – An 11-year-old girl is in critical condition after being struck by a bullet in a drive-by shooting. Lamara Glenn was sleeping on her aunt’s sofa when she was caught in a hail of gunfire on Tuesday night. Her mother, Brandy Crenshaw, shared the heartbreaking news that her daughter will soon be taken off life support.

Crenshaw spoke emotionally to reporters on Friday, expressing her disbelief and grief over the unexpected loss of her only child. The incident occurred when approximately 23 bullets were fired into the residence, with one tragically hitting Lamara in the head. Assistant Chief Charles Fitzgerald of the Detroit Police Department confirmed the details in a Facebook post.

Shortly after the incident, four suspects were apprehended and another arrest was made on Thursday, increasing the total to five. The alleged culprits are believed to be involved in a local car theft ring and are also connected to a previous fatal shooting of a 17-year-old. The names of the suspects have not yet been released by the police.

Tragically, doctors at Detroit’s Children’s Hospital have stated that they can do little to save Lamara’s life. The family is now facing mounting expenses related to the shooting, prompting Crenshaw to start a GoFundMe account.

The drive-by shooting has left the community in shock and mourning the senseless violence. Local authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and bring the perpetrators to justice.
