A teenager from Long Island has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy during a chaotic house party, according to Suffolk County police. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his minor status, is alleged to have killed Liam Delemo in a brawl that took place on November 3 at a West Babylon residence owned by a 70-year-old woman.
The incident occurred during a party hosted by the elderly woman’s grandchild, which was attended by an estimated 90 to 100 teenagers. The gathering took place outside the home on Carlton Road, and it was during this event that a fight broke out, resulting in Delemo’s stabbing, as per the police statement released on Monday.
Delemo, a resident of West Babylon, was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip following the incident. However, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the police statement further added.
The homeowner, Bonnie Miranda, was also arrested in the aftermath of the incident. She was charged with child endangerment and violation of the county’s social host law for allowing her grandchild to host the unruly underage party.
According to reports from local news outlet News12 Long Island, the party escalated out of control, causing dozens of teenagers to flee the scene by scrambling over fences and through yards following the fatal altercation.
The accused teenager is expected to be arraigned on Monday on a second-degree murder charge. Meanwhile, the Suffolk County Homicide Squad is appealing to the public for any additional information regarding the deadly incident and can be reached at 631-852-6392.
