2 Dead After Gunman Opens Fire at Senior Living Center

ANAHEIM, Calif. — A gunman opened fire at a senior living complex on Thursday, leaving two people dead, including the suspect, after a six-hour standoff.

The shooting took place at the Tyrol Plaza Senior Apartments near State College Boulevard and Vermont Avenue around 3:40 p.m. The female victim, who was the manager of the complex, has not been publicly identified.

According to witness Joe Guerrero, he was speaking with the manager in the leasing office when the suspect entered the room unexpectedly. The suspect, a resident of the complex, approached them and shot the manager multiple times at close range.

Following the shooting, the male suspect barricaded himself in his third-floor apartment. The SWAT team and a large police presence surrounded the building, evacuating several residents and placing nearby schools on temporary lockdown.

The injured manager was rushed to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. After approximately six hours, the suspect reportedly took his own life.

The motive behind the shooting and any potential relationship between the suspect and the victim remain unclear. Community members expressed shock over the tragic incident.

Authorities continue to investigate the shooting, seeking further information to determine the circumstances that led to this deadly act of violence.
