Las Vegas, NV – Two women have been killed and a man injured in an early-morning shooting at a convenience store in Las Vegas. The suspect, described as a Black man wearing black or dark clothes and a mask, fled the scene on a bicycle, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Lieutenant Jason Johansson of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. The incident took place inside a convenience store in the East Valley neighborhood of Las Vegas. Multiple calls were made to the police at around 3:25 a.m. local time, after the suspect entered the store, opened fire, and swiftly escaped.
Authorities discovered two victims inside the store, while another woman was found in the business’ parking lot. The woman found outside, believed to be in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the victims found inside the store also succumbed to her injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital. The male victim is currently in stable condition, as reported by Johansson.
Considering the possibility that the attacker may have known one of the victims, Johansson stated that the shooting might have been a targeted attack. However, the investigation is ongoing to confirm the motive behind the incident. Johansson emphasized the need for cooperation from the public in identifying the assailant.
“We have someone who went and shot people in a store who is still at large. Naturally, there is a certain level of threat that accompanies that,” Johansson said. “However, our investigation has led us to believe that there may be a connection between one of the victims and the suspect. We are actively working on determining whether the attack was targeted or random based on the information we have currently.”
Las Vegas police are appealing to the community for assistance in apprehending the suspect and are urging anyone with relevant information about the shooting to contact law enforcement.
