A Texas man went on a deadly shooting spree across multiple cities, killing three people before taking his own life, authorities reported. The violent rampage began in Sugar Land, about 19 miles southwest of Houston, on Wednesday around 1 p.m.
Sugar Land police responded to reports of a shooting and found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds behind the wheel of a white SUV that had crashed off the road. Initially thought to be a road rage incident, police later confirmed that the victim and the gunman had a prior relationship.
“This incident was not a random act of road rage violence,” the Sugar Land Police Department stated. Despite life-saving efforts by witnesses, the woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Shortly after, at 1:30 p.m., the suspect was involved in an altercation at a mechanic shop in southwest Houston, only ten minutes from the initial crime scene, according to Houston Police Lt. Larry Crowson. The gunman shot and killed a worker and another man who was recording the confrontation from a nearby warehouse.
The gunman’s rampage ended two and a half miles away, where he was found dead inside his gray Ford Escape from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police have not yet clarified whether the gunman had any connection to the two men shot at the mechanic shop.
Investigators are still trying to piece together a motive and provide more information about the suspect. The case remains under investigation as authorities comb through the events that led to the tragic outcomes.
