4 Found Dead in House, Including 2 Children

In a shocking incident, four people, including two children, were found dead in a San Francisco residence, sparking a homicide investigation by local law enforcement. The San Francisco Police Department confirmed the grim discovery on Wednesday, Oct. 8, during a welfare check at a home on the 900 block of Monterey Blvd.

Officers arrived at the scene around 1:23 p.m., responding to concerns about the occupants’ safety. Upon arrival, they found the individuals unresponsive and they were subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being treated as suspicious, with the department’s Homicide Detail spearheading the investigation, as per a police press statement.

In tandem with the police investigation, the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting its own probe to ascertain the cause and manner of death. In an effort to allay public fears, police have stated that this appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to community safety.

While the identities of the victims have not been officially released, local media outlets, including ABC7 News, have reported that two of the deceased were children. Neighbors believe the victims were a family—a mother, father, and two young girls—that resided in the house, as reported by NBC Bay Area.

The scene outside the residence was one of shock and disbelief, with the property cordoned off by police and officers present at the scene. Neighbor Belinda Hanart expressed her shock at the tragedy, describing a quiet neighborhood where no suspicious sounds had been heard. She mentioned that the family of four, including two girls and a dog, led a normal life with a regular routine.

Authorities have suggested that a suspect could potentially be among the deceased, but Officer Robert Rueca stated that this has not been confirmed. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
