A devastating vehicular accident in central Texas resulted in the death of five young women, all in their 20s, who were on their way to a lake house vacation. The fatal incident took place on Friday, July 25, when a truck pulling a horse trailer swerved into oncoming traffic, causing a collision with several vehicles, including the Mercedes SUV carrying the women, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The SUV was flipped over by the impact and caught fire, leading to the immediate death of all its passengers. The victims were identified as Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez, and Jacqueline Velazco. These women had been close friends since their middle school years.

Salinas, who was behind the wheel of the SUV, was driving her friends to a lake house to celebrate her 23rd birthday. Her family was due to join them at the lake house, which was a mere 20 minutes away from the site of the accident.

The truck driver, Kody Talley, allegedly left the scene after the accident. He was later arrested and is now facing five counts of manslaughter. The drivers of the other vehicles involved in the accident suffered only minor injuries.
