Nick Pasqual faces a possible life sentence after jurors found him guilty in the 2024 attack on Allie Shehorn.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Actor Nick Pasqual was convicted Friday of attempted murder and other felony counts in the 2024 stabbing of his estranged girlfriend, Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn, at her Los Angeles home.

The verdict moves the case from trial to sentencing, with Pasqual facing a possible life term in state prison. Jurors convicted him after hearing evidence about a violent home break-in, a recent restraining order and Shehorn’s testimony about the attack. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 2 in Los Angeles.

Prosecutors said Pasqual broke into Shehorn’s home in Sunland at about 4:30 a.m. on May 23, 2024, after she had recently filed for a restraining order. Shehorn survived after being stabbed more than 20 times and later appeared in court with visible scars on her arm and neck. During trial testimony, she described running from Pasqual after he forced his way through a locked door. “I locked the door and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open,” Shehorn said. She said she ran into a bathroom because she thought another lock might stop him.

The jury found Pasqual guilty of attempted murder, first-degree residential burglary with a person present and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or child’s parent. Court records reviewed in recent coverage also showed a conviction for forcible rape tied to an earlier incident. Jurors also found special allegations true, including that Pasqual caused great bodily injury under circumstances involving domestic violence and used a deadly weapon. Pasqual had pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the case, and prosecutors said Shehorn was hospitalized with critical injuries after the attack.

The criminal case began in May 2024, when the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced charges against Pasqual and said an arrest warrant had been issued with bail set at $1.075 million. Prosecutors said he fled California after the stabbing and was detained at a U.S.-Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas. The district attorney’s office said at the time that Shehorn had recently filed a restraining order against Pasqual. The office also said Pasqual was accused of personally using a knife during the crime and causing great bodily injury in a domestic violence case.

Shehorn, 37, is a Hollywood makeup and special effects artist whose credits include “Rebel Moon,” “Babylon” and “Mean Girls.” Friends said after the attack that she underwent major surgery and spent days in intensive care. Updates shared by people close to her described a long recovery from deep injuries to her neck, arms and abdomen. She later returned to work while the criminal case moved through court. Pasqual, 36, had small acting credits before his arrest, including an appearance on “How I Met Your Mother” and work connected to “Rebel Moon,” “Archive 81” and “The Road.”

The case drew attention because of the public work histories of both people and because prosecutors presented the attack as part of an intimate partner violence case. Shehorn’s testimony placed jurors inside the home as she described the moments before the stabbing. Earlier reports said a friend found Shehorn after the attack and helped her try to stop the bleeding before emergency care. Some details about the relationship and prior allegations were described in restraining order records and trial coverage, but the full sentencing record has not yet been made public.

Pasqual’s next court date is set for June 2, when a judge is expected to decide his prison term. The sentencing hearing may include statements about the impact of the attack, legal arguments over the jury’s special findings and a review of the counts on which he was convicted. Prosecutors have said the maximum sentence could be life in state prison. Defense arguments planned for sentencing were not immediately clear from the available court coverage.

By Sunday, Pasqual had been convicted on the major counts reported from the trial, and Shehorn’s testimony had become a central part of the public record. The next milestone is sentencing in Los Angeles on June 2.
