A babysitter in Kansas experienced a terrifying encounter on Monday night when she discovered a grown man hiding under a child’s bed while she was checking for “monsters,” according to local law enforcement. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. just outside the city of Great Bend, as the babysitter was tucking the children into bed. One of the children expressed fear of a “monster” in the room, prompting the babysitter to investigate.
The babysitter’s attempt to reassure the child led to a shocking discovery. A man, later identified as 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Jr., was found hiding under the bed. The babysitter and Villalobos engaged in a brief altercation, during which one of the children was knocked over. Villalobos then fled the scene.
The following morning, deputies from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office located Villalobos in the vicinity and apprehended him after a short foot pursuit. It was revealed that Villalobos had previously resided at the home but was prohibited from entering the property due to an existing abuse order.
Villalobos was taken into custody and his bail was set at $500,000. The nature of his relationship to the children and the residents of the home was not disclosed by the authorities.
Villalobos is facing multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, and felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He is also charged with violating the protection order against him.
