A devastating event occurred in Texas when a promising 18-year-old basketball player and recent US Air Force recruit lost her life in a jet ski hit-and-run accident. Ava Moore was enjoying a Sunday evening kayaking on Grapevine Lake when she was reportedly struck by a jet ski driven by two women.
Eyewitness Lisa Scrabeck described the distressing scene, explaining that she and others present tried to administer life-saving aid to Moore after she was retrieved from the water. Moore, a 2024 graduate of Fort Worth Timber Creek High School and a basketball star, was immediately transported to the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center. Regrettably, she was declared dead upon arrival.
Law enforcement officials have reported that the woman who was operating the jet ski fled the scene immediately following the incident. She was observed escaping in a vehicle with a male companion, and they allegedly struck another car as they made their getaway. The second woman who was on the jet ski remained at the scene and was later questioned by the police.
In a bid to find the woman who absconded, the police have disseminated a photo of the suspected jet ski driver. The picture has been widely shared in an effort to locate her.
The incident has left the community and Moore’s family in a state of shock. In a statement, Moore’s family expressed their sorrow over the loss of their daughter. They also offered their prayers to the young women involved in the incident and their families.
The investigation into the incident is still underway, and authorities are encouraging anyone with information to step forward.
