Beloved Dentist Killed by Neighbor

A well-respected dentist from Wisconsin, Dr. Akintunde Bowden, tragically lost his life in his apartment building following a disagreement over loud music. Keionna McGowan, a 27-year-old resident of the same building, was charged with his murder on Thursday. The incident reportedly occurred on April 19 after Dr. Bowden requested McGowan to lower the volume of her music.

According to the criminal complaint, McGowan was in her apartment in northern Milwaukee when she heard a knock on her door. She told the police that she saw Dr. Bowden behaving aggressively and suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol. McGowan claimed that she agreed to reduce the volume of her music, but the situation did not calm down.

McGowan alleged that after she closed the door, Dr. Bowden kicked it. She then reportedly retrieved a firearm, reopened the door, and shot at him when he attempted to kick the door again. When the Brown Deer Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they found McGowan outside her Park Plaza Court apartment building, shouting that someone was in her apartment.

Upon entering the apartment, the authorities found Dr. Bowden lying face down in McGowan’s doorway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that Dr. Bowden died from a single gunshot wound to his lower abdomen.

McGowan was charged with second-degree reckless homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon on Thursday. Her preliminary hearing is set for May 5, according to court records.

Dr. Bowden was a beloved figure in the community, known for his dedication to providing dental services to those who could not afford them. Milwaukee Health Services praised his contributions, stating that his leadership, compassion, and vibrant personality would forever remain in their hearts.

Dr. Bowden’s brothers, Adeniji and Ogbonna, both dentists themselves, spoke of his love for his patients and his commitment to helping those less fortunate. They expressed their shock and grief over the sudden loss of their brother.
