Beloved Soap Opera Actor Dies at 65

Mark Dobies, a seasoned actor known for his roles in popular soap operas “Guiding Light” and “One Life to Live,” has passed away at the age of 65. His death was confirmed on March 11, as per his obituary published in New Jersey. The cause of his demise remains undisclosed.

Dobies was remembered in his obituary as a loving father, accomplished athlete, and talented actor who lived a life marked by passion, perseverance, and love. Alan Locher, a former publicist for “Guiding Light,” expressed his sorrow over Dobies’ passing on Instagram, describing the news as “really sad and unexpected.” Locher remembered Dobies as a genuinely good person and asked for thoughts for his family during this challenging time.

Born on April 3, 1959, in Philadelphia, Dobies was a football player on a scholarship at Delaware Valley University before he ventured into acting. His acting debut was in the drama series “Fame L.A.” in 1997. He gained fame for his role as Dr. Noah Chase in “Guiding Light” on CBS, appearing in 14 episodes of the soap opera in 2000.

Dobies also portrayed the character of district attorney and serial killer Daniel Colson on “One Life to Live” from 2003 to 2005. His acting portfolio includes appearances in episodes of “All My Children,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “Home Improvement,” “Melrose Place,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Gossip Girl,” “Fringe,” “CSI: Miami,” and “Just Shoot Me!” among others.

In 2004, Dobies was part of the off-Broadway revival of “The Normal Heart.” He spoke highly of the production in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, praising the cast and the writing.

Dobies is survived by his three children, Francesca, Olivia, and Robert, his mother Suzanne, his brother Paul, and his sister Sandy.
