Body of Former My Chemical Romance Drummer Found Weeks After Last Seen

Bob Bryar, the former drummer for the renowned rock band My Chemical Romance, was discovered deceased in his Tennessee residence on Tuesday. Bryar, who was 44, was last seen alive on November 4, according to sources. The authorities have ruled out any suspicion of foul play in connection with his death. The cause of Bryar’s death remains unknown at this time.

Bryar, who had a successful career as a sound technician for The Used, joined My Chemical Romance in 2004 while the two bands were touring together. He replaced the original drummer, Matt Pelissier, and became a permanent member of the New Jersey rock band following the release of their second album, “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.”

Bryar was a key part of the band’s golden era, contributing to the creation and release of the platinum concept album “The Black Parade” in 2006. This album achieved quadruple platinum status in the US and topped the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart in 2006. It also secured the second spot on the Billboard 200.

During the production of the music video for the song “Famous Last Words,” Bryar and lead singer Gerard Way were injured. Bryar suffered third-degree burns, which led to the cancellation of the band’s performance at the San Diego Street Scene Festival.

Bryar’s tenure with My Chemical Romance ended in March 2010, six years after he replaced Pelissier. His departure was due to ongoing health issues that led to the cancellation of several shows. The band expressed their sadness over his departure, stating it was a difficult decision and wishing him luck in his future endeavors.

After leaving the band, Bryar worked with other bands on tour before transitioning into the real estate industry. His death comes as My Chemical Romance announced their “Long Live” ten-city tour, set to begin in July 2025. Bryar was not slated to appear at any of the tour’s shows.
