Las Vegas, NV – A tragic incident occurred in Las Vegas when the body of a 2-year-old boy was discovered in a dumpster, leading to the arrest of his mother, Diaja Smith. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the arrest following the shocking discovery made in the early morning hours of June 7. The toddler had been reported missing from his home more than four hours prior to the grim find.
The police revealed that the missing 2-year-old was located inside a garbage dumpster on Lewis Avenue at approximately 12:58 a.m. Medical professionals who responded to the scene declared the infant deceased. Although the toddler’s identity was not initially released, further investigation revealed him to be Jacoby Robinson Jr. This information was obtained from a neighbor’s missing persons flyer that had been distributed by the police. Smith, the boy’s mother, is currently held at the Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder and child abuse, according to jail records.
Authorities have also arrested a second suspect, Jacoby Robinson, believed to be the child’s father. While Robinson initially faced two child abuse charges, news outlets report that prosecutors have indicated his charges will be upgraded to include murder.
