Cause of Death Revealed for Man Who Died During Livestream

The recent death of French internet personality Raphaël Graven, known online as Jean Pormanove, has been ruled as non-traumatic, according to an autopsy report. Graven, 46, was discovered deceased in his sleep on August 18 in a rented apartment in Contes, a village near Nice, France. The streamer, who had been subjected to on-camera humiliation and mistreatment by a group of men during his broadcasts, was found with unexplained bruises on his body.

The autopsy report, released by the Nice prosecutor’s office, stated that Graven’s death was not caused by trauma and was not linked to the actions of a third party. Prosecutor Damien Martinelli confirmed that forensic doctors found no signs of internal or external traumatic injuries or burns on Graven’s body. The likely causes of death, Martinelli suggested, were medical and/or toxicological in nature.

Graven had a history of cardiac issues and was receiving treatment for his thyroid, as reported by French newspaper Le Parisien. Martinelli also noted that several individuals who were present at the time of the incident have been questioned by the police.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities have seized equipment and videos to help clarify the events leading up to Graven’s death. Clara Chappaz, a French government minister, had previously stated that Graven was subjected to “horror” violence by a group of men during his livestreams. Clips from past broadcasts showed Graven being hit, strangled, and shot with a paintball gun.

Chappaz has referred the matter to the French media regulator Arcom and Pharos, a system used to report online content in France. She assured that justice will be served to shed light on the tragic circumstances surrounding Graven’s death.

Graven had a significant online following, with over 500,000 followers across his social media platforms. He was known for his gaming videos, which often included challenges. His death was confirmed by fellow streamer Owen Cenazandotti in an Instagram post, where he asked followers to respect Graven’s memory and not share the video of his final moments.

Graven’s last moments were reportedly captured during a 10-day marathon livestream on the platform Kick. In the livestream, Graven was seen lying almost completely covered by a duvet. When other streamers began to wake up, they noticed Graven in an unusual position and tried to get his attention before abruptly ending the livestream.
