A private jet owned by Vince Neil, the lead singer of Mötley Crüe, crashed at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona, resulting in the death of one pilot and injuries to three others, according to city officials. The Learjet 35A, which was returning from a private flight from Austin, Texas, collided with a parked Gulfstream 200 due to a landing gear failure.
Initial reports indicate that the Learjet’s left main landing gear malfunctioned upon landing, causing the aircraft to lose control and crash into the parked plane. A video of the incident shows the jet skidding and struggling to halt its momentum before colliding with the stationary aircraft.
The Learjet had four occupants at the time of the crash: two pilots and two passengers. One of the pilots was declared dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a hospital along with the two passengers. The passengers included Neil’s girlfriend, Rain Andreani, and her friend. Andreani, 43, sustained five broken ribs in the accident.
Two dogs belonging to the female passengers also survived the crash. There was one individual on the Gulfstream jet, who escaped the incident unharmed. Emergency responders were on the scene within a minute of the collision.
Neil was not present on the flight. A statement from his lawyer expressed the rock star’s thoughts and prayers for everyone involved and gratitude for the swift response of the first responders.
Scottsdale Airport was temporarily closed following the accident but resumed operations the following morning with the approval of local authorities.
