Coach Shot During Gunfire at Youth Baseball Tournament

A youth baseball tournament at the RAC Sports Complex on FM 2855 was thrown into chaos when gunfire erupted, leaving one person injured. The Waller County Sheriff’s Office has reported that three individuals are now facing charges of deadly conduct for allegedly discharging firearms in the vicinity of the baseball fields. The shots were reportedly intended for targets in a nearby pasture, but several bullets veered dangerously close to the players and spectators.

Among those caught in the terrifying incident were Ashley Solano and her 11-year-old son, Liam. Ashley recounted the horrifying moment a bullet narrowly missed her face. The incident sparked a wave of panic among the spectators and players, with parents and children frantically seeking cover.

Video footage from the scene captured the tense moments as the sound of gunfire reverberated across the fields. Parents can be heard in the footage, urging their children to take cover as the shots continued. The sheriff’s office received a firearms complaint around 9:50 a.m. Shortly after, a call reported that a 27-year-old man had been shot in the shoulder.

The injured man was airlifted to a hospital and later discharged. The authorities have identified the three individuals involved in the shooting. They are expected to face charges for their reckless actions, which the sheriff’s office defines as discharging a weapon near people or property, potentially leading to misdemeanor or felony charges.

The Solano family remains deeply affected by the incident, uncertain if they will ever feel safe at a baseball game again. “It frightens me to think this could happen anywhere,” Ashley said. As the investigation continues, no arrests have been made, and the names of the suspects have not been released.
