Southeastern Oklahoma State defensive lineman Dylan Sebock died after a rollover crash that led to the arrest of teammate De’Teaurean Johnson.
SHERMAN, Texas — Southeastern Oklahoma State University football player Dylan Sebock died early Thursday in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Sherman, and a teammate accused of driving while intoxicated was arrested in connection with his death, according to police and published reports.
Sebock, 23, was a defensive lineman for the Savage Storm. Police identified De’Teaurean Johnson, 23, a linebacker on the same team, as the driver. Investigators said evidence collected after the crash indicated Johnson was intoxicated while driving and that his actions contributed to Sebock’s death. Johnson was arrested after receiving medical treatment and faces an intoxication manslaughter charge. Online records reviewed by People also listed a charge of collision involving death.
Sherman police responded shortly before 1 a.m. Oct. 8 to reports of a rollover crash in the 5700 block of the North U.S. Highway 75 East Control Road. Police said both occupants had been ejected from the vehicle. Sebock was found near the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was found lying in the road when officers arrived, according to reports citing police.
Authorities said Johnson attempted to leave the crash scene on foot after an officer arrived. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for injuries suffered in the crash. After he was released from medical care, police arrested him on the intoxication manslaughter allegation. People reported that Grayson County jail records showed Johnson being held on a combined $500,000 bond.
Southeastern Oklahoma State University confirmed that one student died in what it called a serious vehicle accident and that another student had been hospitalized. The university said its thoughts were with the students’ families, friends, teammates and others affected by the crash. The school did not provide additional details about the circumstances of the wreck in the statement cited by news organizations.
Sebock wore No. 97 for Southeastern and was listed by the university as a 6-foot-4 defensive lineman from Midwest City, Oklahoma. The school’s 2026 statistics show he had appeared in five games and recorded 25 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also had blocked a kick during the season. He previously attended Northeastern State University before joining Southeastern.
Johnson wore No. 10 and played linebacker for the Savage Storm. University records show he had appeared in four games this season and recorded 16 tackles. In a Sept. 26 victory over Southern Nazarene, Johnson intercepted a pass and returned it 85 yards for a touchdown. Both players had been active members of Southeastern’s defense during the current season.
Sebock’s family identified him publicly after the crash and established an online fundraiser for funeral and related expenses. In comments shared through the fundraiser and reported by People, relatives remembered him for his humor, personality and close bonds with teammates and coaches. The university’s roster listed him as a senior, while some of the school’s individual game and preseason materials listed differing class-year information.
The criminal allegations against Johnson remain pending, and an arrest does not establish guilt. Authorities had not publicly released a full reconstruction of how the vehicle left the roadway or other details leading up to the rollover as of Sunday. The investigation and court proceedings will determine whether prosecutors can prove the charges filed in connection with Sebock’s death.
