Corpse Found Floating in River

A woman’s body was found floating in the Hudson River near Lower Manhattan late Wednesday evening. The authorities are currently investigating whether the deceased is the same woman who was seen jumping into the river the day before, despite the valiant rescue attempts by onlookers.

The identity of the woman, whose body was discovered near Canal and West streets around 7:50 p.m., is yet to be confirmed. The Harbor Unit of the local police department was immediately dispatched to the location, where they recovered her body from the water. On-site emergency medical services personnel declared her dead at the scene.

This incident eerily mirrors an event that took place the previous day in the same vicinity. A woman, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, was seen jumping into the Hudson River. Despite the heroic efforts of bystanders who jumped in to save her, the woman could not be rescued.

The authorities are now investigating whether the woman found on Wednesday is the same individual who jumped from the nearby Pier 34 around 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Two men had attempted to rescue her, but their efforts were in vain.

Following the incident on Tuesday, both the Harbor Unit and the Fire Department of New York initiated a search operation after the woman failed to resurface. The investigation into the identity of the woman retrieved from the Hudson River on Wednesday is ongoing, according to police reports.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of the river, and the bravery of those who risk their lives to save others. The authorities are urging anyone with information about the woman or the incident to come forward to aid in the investigation.
