A Florida woman, aged 33, has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms in a state correctional facility for the murder of her father and attempted murder of her mother. Christina Anne Adams was handed down the sentence by Judge Timothy McCourt after she attacked her parents in their home and fled the scene. The attack was prompted by her parents’ request for her to move out.
The sentencing was announced by authorities on Wednesday. Fifth Judicial Circuit Chief Assistant State Attorney Walter Forgie, in a statement following the sentencing, emphasized the importance of justice and closure for the victims and their families. He expressed his belief that the sentencing had achieved this goal.
The incident occurred on September 16, 2022, when the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a stabbing. Responding deputies arrived at a residence in Ocala, Florida, where they found two victims, an adult male and an adult female, both with multiple stab wounds.
While providing aid to the victims, the male victim, later identified as Richard Langer, informed officials that his daughter was the assailant. A bulletin was issued, and Adams was subsequently apprehended during a traffic stop. Her wife, who was also in the vehicle, was taken into custody.
During the investigation, Adams’ wife told law enforcement that she had been running errands before meeting Adams at a grocery store. She claimed to have noticed nothing unusual about Adams’ behavior and was unaware of any altercation. However, Adams’ account of events did not align with her wife’s statements.
Adams confessed to detectives that she was upset about being asked to leave her parents’ home. She admitted to retrieving a large knife and attacking her parents, stabbing them multiple times. After believing her parents were dead, Adams attempted to destroy evidence and left the scene. She changed her clothes and went shopping after the attack.
Despite her attempts to cover up the crime, her father identified her as his attacker before he died, according to reports.
