Delta Plane Flips on Landing at Major Airport

A plane mishap occurred at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, resulting in eight people sustaining injuries, according to official reports. The incident, which was covered by CBC television, revealed that the plane had overturned upon landing. Footage shared by News Channel3 Now depicted a Delta Air Lines aircraft lying upside down on a snow-laden runway, with individuals seen moving away from the scene.

Among the injured, one person was critically hurt while the others suffered minor to moderate injuries, as reported by Lawrence Saindon, Supervisor of Peel Regional Paramedic Services. The airport authorities confirmed the incident, stating that it involved a Delta plane that had arrived from Minneapolis. Emergency response teams were promptly dispatched to the site.

The airport released a statement confirming that all passengers and crew members were accounted for. However, Delta Air Lines representatives were not immediately available for comment. Constable Sarah Patten of the Peel Regional Police in Ontario acknowledged the plane crash but stated that the details surrounding the incident were still unclear.

Patten further added that most passengers had safely exited the plane and were unharmed. However, investigations were ongoing to ensure everyone’s safety. The incident led to significant delays at Toronto Pearson Airport, with the airport’s website listing over four dozen flights affected. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration also confirmed a ground stop at the airport.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada, the autonomous body responsible for investigating aviation accidents, was yet to comment on the incident. This unfortunate event follows a series of recent crashes in North America in late January, including a fatal collision between an Army helicopter and a passenger jet in Washington, and a medical transport plane crash in Philadelphia that claimed at least seven lives.
