Estranged Husband Arrested After Fatal Shooting Outside Home

A man in Queens, New York, is in police custody after allegedly shooting his estranged wife’s new partner to death outside the latter’s residence. The incident occurred late Thursday night on 119th Street near 28th Avenue in College Point, according to law enforcement officials.

The suspect, identified as 55-year-old Jose Centeno, is accused of shooting Antonio Cantor, 50, multiple times in the chest and stomach. Cantor was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Centeno, who is reportedly separated from his wife, initially fled the scene of the crime. However, he turned himself in to the 109th Precinct station house around 2 a.m., which is responsible for the area where the shooting took place.

The crime scene, marked by a trail of blood spatter, was less than two miles from Centeno’s residence. He has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police reports.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain unclear. Authorities have not confirmed whether there was a confrontation between the two men prior to the shooting or if Centeno ambushed Cantor.

The involvement of the woman at the center of the dispute is also uncertain. Police have not confirmed whether she witnessed the fatal incident.

This tragic event underscores the potential for violence in domestic disputes, even when parties are separated. As the investigation continues, more details are expected to emerge about the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting.
