A tragic incident unfolded in Romeoville, Illinois, where a family of four and their three dogs were discovered dead in their home. The Romeoville Police Department initiated a homicide investigation after the bodies were found during a welfare check on Sunday evening. The check was prompted by concerns raised when a family member failed to report to work and was unresponsive to phone calls.
Upon arrival at the residence, police discovered the bodies of two adults and two children, all with gunshot wounds. The three family dogs were also found dead from gunshot wounds. The adult victims have been identified as Alberto Rolon, 38, and Zoraida Bartolomei, 32. The identities of the children, 7 and 9, have not been released, and their deaths are being treated as murders.
The shooting is believed to have occurred between Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Investigators have ruled out the possibility of the shooter being among the victims. Deputy Chief of Police Chris Burne emphasized the department’s commitment to the case, stating that officers and staff have been working relentlessly to gather evidence and investigate the incident.
Authorities have dismissed the possibility of a murder-suicide scenario. As of Tuesday night, no suspects have been apprehended, and no information about potential suspects has been released. The investigation is ongoing, with the Romeoville Police and Will County Major Crimes Task Force leading the efforts.
Romeoville Mayor John Noak expressed his condolences, stating that the community is mourning the tragic loss. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and pledged full resources towards the task.
The Romeoville Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The perpetrator, believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting of the family and their dogs, remains at large.
