MELBOURNE, Australia — A father who went to a Melbourne-area school to confront students he believed had bullied his daughter was knocked to the ground and repeatedly struck after reportedly accusing the wrong student, according to local reports and video of the confrontation.

Reports said the father approached a group of Year 7 students while picking up his daughter and accused one boy of being involved in the alleged bullying. Local reporting said that student was not involved. Another, older student who reportedly trains in mixed martial arts then intervened, and the dispute turned violent.
The Herald Sun initially reported that the father allegedly threatened the student he confronted, based on an account from another parent at the school. He gets back to his feet before being knocked down again, and an adult eventually intervenes. A third recording shows another heated exchange near a bus stop, where the father and students can be seen arguing and briefly pushing one another before separating.
7NEWS reported that a bystander was also knocked into a fence during the disorder and that a staff member on yard duty helped interrupt part of the confrontation. The extent of any injuries suffered by the father or others has not been publicly detailed in reliable official statements reviewed for this report.
