Austin, Texas – A gruesome scene unfolded on Windrift Way when Hayden Lerond, a 22-year-old resident of Texas, allegedly stabbed his father to death in a horrifying frenzy. The 51-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds, including a deep cut that punctured his jugular vein, leaving him lifeless. Police discovered the suspect by following a trail of bloody footprints, leading from the crime scene back to the Lerond home.
The incident occurred on July 1, prompting an immediate response from the Austin Police Department. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, where they found Hayden Lerond inside the house with blood on his knees. He reportedly refused to provide any answers during questioning, leading investigators to detain him on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Hayden Lerond is currently being held at the Travis County Correctional Complex on a $200,000 bond. His court appearance is scheduled for August 5, according to records from Texas’ 427th District. Information regarding the motive behind the alleged slaying remains unknown.
The brutal attack left James Lerond with broken ribs and an 8-inch gash on his neck, severing his jugular vein. Despite efforts by the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS, James Lerond was pronounced dead at the scene.
