(TheDailyHorn.com) – The Biden administration has not been a stalwart champion when it comes to freedom of the press. If anything, it’s been an antagonist. In 2020, Biden regularly chided then-President Donald Trump for demanding the press stop spreading fake news and report the facts. In Biden’s case, he may not want the facts out there.
Over the summer, the Biden administration pursued a gag order against a New York Times reporter from making his superiors aware that the Department of Justice (DOJ) was secretly trying to get access to numerous reporters’ emails. The administration tried to backpedal, and they’re doing it again after the DOJ aggressively went after Project Veritas founder, James O’Keefe.

Days after the FBI raided O’Keefe’s home searching for a missing diary that belonged to President Biden’s daughter, Ashley Biden, a federal court stepped into the situation. The FBI took two iPhones belonging to O’Keefe and went through them. The conservative reporter’s attorneys allege that the federal government seized donor information, communication with lawyers and anonymous sources within the Biden administration. They say the DOJ violated the First Amendment and freedom of the press.
On Wednesday, November 10, District Court Judge Analisa Torres agreed and granted a request for a special master to oversee the review of the devices to protect sensitive data. The court ordered the FBI to confirm it complied with the ruling. The actions of the Biden administration are calling into question its commitment to uphold the freedom of the press.
