Former Bloomberg Exec, Wife and Daughter Found Dead in Home

A tragic incident unfolded in the affluent town of Greer, South Carolina, as a family of three was found dead in their mansion on Friday. The local law enforcement, responding to a call from a worried neighbor, discovered the bodies of Richard Samarel, 54, his wife Lina Maria Samarel, 45, and their 9-year-old daughter, Samantha Samarel. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office has yet to release detailed information about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The county coroner identified the victims, but the cause of their deaths remains unknown. The police have not confirmed whether the family was murdered or if their deaths were the result of an accident. However, the sheriff’s office has assured the public that there is no immediate threat to the community.

The sheriff’s office statement also mentioned that other occupants of the house were at school when the incident took place. As suggested by Lina Maria’s social media posts, these are believed to be the couple’s other children. The sheriff’s office has promised to release more information as the investigation progresses.

Richard and Lina Maria Samarel had been married since 2009, according to their Facebook profiles. Richard was a former equities manager at Bloomberg LP, having left the company in 2007. Lina Maria, an immigrant from Colombia, was employed by the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Samarel family resided in a six-bedroom mansion valued at approximately $800,000, as per real estate website Zillow. The affluent neighborhood and the family’s seemingly comfortable lifestyle add to the mystery surrounding their untimely deaths.

As the community grapples with this shocking incident, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation. The authorities are working closely with the Coroner’s Office to uncover the circumstances that led to the tragic deaths of the Samarel family.
