King County, WA – Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to authorities. The 35-year-old NFL Thursday Night Football analyst was taken into custody in King County, Washington, at 3:48 a.m. on Saturday, as reported by jail records.
Sherman’s previous arrest in 2021 involved a collision with an SUV in a construction zone and an attempt to break into his in-laws’ house. Following a court agreement, he received a suspended jail sentence and was placed under court supervision until 2024, subject to staying out of legal trouble. The recent arrest could pose a challenge to his legal obligations and professional commitments.
It remains unclear whether the recent arrest is related to alcohol, marijuana, or another substance. Sherman had made his shift to TV appearances and temporarily paused his football career in 2022. As part of Amazon Prime Video’s “Thursday Night Football” franchise, Sherman took on the role of pregame, halftime, and postgame analyst.
During his playing career, Sherman achieved notable success with the Seattle Seahawks, winning the Super Bowl in 2014. He later contributed to the San Francisco 49ers’ journey to the big game in 2019 and played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In an interview with the NFL Network last year, Sherman expressed the possibility of returning to the field.
Details of the arrest are expected to be disclosed if charges are formally filed in the case. Sherman, a Super Bowl veteran.
