General Milley Says U.S. Troops Better Get Ready to Challenge China

(TheDailyHorn.com) – As America’s enemies modernize their fighting capabilities, our military must be prepared to step up and evolve or face an uncertain risk. That’s the warning coming from Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley. America’s most senior officer warned that if the US military doesn’t modernize quickly, it will face the real prospect of losing a war to China.

Every decade, it’s normal for defense officials to suggest that the US military must modernize to keep ahead of its adversaries. Milley told attendees of the Aspen Security Forum that the Chinese are transforming their military and economy at a breakneck speed. China is making it clear that it intends to challenge the United States as the world’s leading superpower. According to Milley, the communist government wants to supplant the US, and he believes it presents serious challenges to current US military capabilities.

In recent weeks, China tested a hypersonic ballistic missile, illustrating how far the Chinese have come. Milley said that the country didn’t have a satellite, nuclear-capable long-range missiles, fighter jets, a navy, or submarines forty years ago. Today, they have some of the most advanced weaponry in the world, and they developed it in a very short time.
