Girl’s Body Found in Hotel Room

In a shocking incident in Tennessee, law enforcement officers discovered the body of a young girl, described as “malnourished and mummified,” while responding to a call regarding a woman experiencing a mental health crisis. The mother, 46-year-old Kimberly Moore, is now facing charges of abuse of a corpse and failure to report a dead body.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the Home Inn and Suites in Memphis on Friday. The call was made after Moore began making unusual claims that her husband owned the hotel and she was there to ensure the staff was performing their duties adequately. These details were revealed in a probable cause arrest affidavit.

Upon arrival, Moore continued to make these claims to the deputies. However, it was the strong odor emanating from her room that raised their concern. Upon entering the room, they found the lifeless body of her daughter, who was described as “unresponsive, cold to the touch, malnourished and mummified.”

The report did not specify the cause of death or the age of the girl. It also did not provide a date of death, only stating that the girl had been deceased “for quite some time.” It remains unclear whether Moore will face additional charges.

Detectives concluded that Moore was experiencing a mental health crisis at the time. She reportedly declined to answer investigators’ questions, insisting that her daughter was “still with her” and that she “reads her Bible.”

Following the incident, Moore was taken to a healthcare facility for treatment. She is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail on a $5,000 bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
