A Florida-based nurse, Alexis Von Yates, 35, has been incarcerated following her sexual assault on her 15-year-old stepson. The incident, which took place in July 2024, led to her separation from her husband, Frank Yates. Von Yates accepted a plea deal in early September, thereby avoiding a sexual battery charge. Instead, she was charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a child aged between 12 and 16, resulting in a two-year prison sentence.
Von Yates reportedly pursued her stepson due to his resemblance to her husband, according to police reports. The teenager, who was a virgin, was assaulted while Von Yates’ two younger children were asleep in another room. The assault was discovered by Yates, who found his son fleeing to the bathroom in fear.
The teenager refuted Von Yates’ claim that she had asked him to stop the assault. He was reportedly afraid that Yates would physically punish him with a belt, as per the original arrest affidavit. Following the incident, Yates took the teenager to his grandparents’ house, blaming him for ruining his life.
The grandparents reportedly discouraged the teenager from reporting the assault to his biological mother. It was not until October 2024, three months after the incident, that Yates anonymously reported the assault to the police.
During the sentencing, the victim’s biological mother expressed her anger and pain, having spent almost a year helping her son cope with the trauma. She stated that despite the trauma, her son still had a promising future ahead of him. Von Yates had only spoken to the victim once since the incident was reported.
Following her prison sentence, Von Yates will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years and complete 200 hours of community service. Von Yates and her ex-husband, who were married in 2017, have two young children together.
