Hairstylist Found Dead After Months-Long Search

Cherilynne Gratton-Camis, the mother of Jax Gratton, a 34-year-old hairstylist from Denver, has confirmed the tragic news of her daughter’s death. Jax had been missing since April, and her mother shared the heartbreaking news of her passing on a Facebook post over the weekend. She expressed her grief, stating that her daughter’s light, love, and joy had been prematurely extinguished.

Gratton-Camis expressed her gratitude to everyone who had supported them during this difficult time. She thanked those who shared Jax’s story, her picture, and those who sent prayers and kind thoughts. She also acknowledged the tireless efforts of those who actively participated in the search for Jax.

Jax, a trans woman, had a significant impact on her mother’s understanding of the LGBTQIA+ community. Gratton-Camis shared that her daughter’s experiences had opened her eyes to the struggles faced by the community. She emphasized that the fight for the right to live, love, and exist safely and equally should not be a battle, but unfortunately, it is.

Gratton-Camis remembered her daughter as a beacon of light who touched many lives by being unapologetically herself. She expressed her wish for peace, love, and protection for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Lakewood Police Department confirmed the discovery of a body on Friday. Jax was last seen leaving her Denver apartment around 10 p.m. on April 15. She had informed her roommate that she would be out for about three hours, but she never returned.

After Jax was reported missing, her mother shared her fears for her daughter’s safety. She expressed her concern that her daughter may have been killed, citing Jax’s history of abusive relationships.
