Hospital Director and Son Fatally Shot Outside Florida Bank

MIAMI, FLORIDA – In a shocking and heartbreaking incident, a hospital director and her four-year-old son were tragically killed when the woman’s ex-boyfriend opened fire on their minivan outside a bank in south Florida. The horrifying attack was captured on the bank’s security video, which also showed the distraught father reacting to the tragedy. The incident occurred on Friday in West Kendall, Miami.

Odalys Bancroft, 43, and her son Theodore ‘Teddy’ Couto were in their minivan at a Chase drive-through ATM when they were attacked by Michael Andres Pineda Lozano, 41. Lozano pulled up in a luxury BMW SUV and began firing at the van before turning the gun on himself.

Bancroft and Teddy were on their way to drop the young boy off at daycare when the attack took place. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, although Bancroft’s brother, Michael Trujillo, mentioned concerns about her ex-boyfriend. He stated that they were going through a breakup but had no knowledge of any fear or threats of violence.

Bancroft, who worked as the director of regulatory affairs at Jackson Health System after a successful nursing career, was highly respected and admired by her colleagues.

The devastating loss of Teddy, who had recently celebrated his pre-K graduation, has left the family shattered. A GoFundMe page has been created to support them during this unimaginable tragedy.

The Miami police responded swiftly to the scene after an officer heard gunshots in the area. As the investigation continues, the community is in mourning while grappling with the senseless loss of a dedicated healthcare professional and her innocent child.
