Police say Metallica Rose Harrison is accused in the deaths of her husband and 3-year-old son at the Pennsylvania resort.
SCOTRUN, Pa. — A 27-year-old Pennsylvania woman has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after police found her husband and 3-year-old son dead inside a guest room at Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains.
Metallica Rose Harrison of Towanda was hospitalized after officers responded to the resort Monday afternoon, Oct. 12, following a 911 call from a distressed woman, according to Pocono Township police and a criminal complaint cited by multiple news organizations. Authorities identified the dead man as Harrison’s husband, Charles Harrison. The couple’s son has been identified publicly in court records only by his initials.
Pocono Township police said officers were dispatched to room 2030 at the Great Wolf Lodge at about 3:13 p.m. after Harrison told a dispatcher she was suicidal and needed help. Officers found Harrison with injuries and then discovered an adult man and a 3-year-old boy dead inside the room. Investigators began treating the deaths as homicides.
According to the criminal complaint, Harrison is accused of fatally stabbing her husband and son. Police recovered two knives from the room, according to reporting based on the complaint. Authorities have not publicly released a full account of what led to the killings, and the allegations against Harrison have not been proven in court.
Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso announced the charges Tuesday and described the case as a “violent domestic tragedy.” He said authorities did not believe there was any ongoing danger to guests, employees or the surrounding community. Police likewise said the incident was isolated.
Authorities said Harrison remained hospitalized after being taken into police custody. Pocono Township police said she would await arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge. Publicly available reporting as of Tuesday did not establish whether she had entered a plea or retained an attorney.
The family had been staying at the resort before the deaths, according to the criminal complaint. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and other evidence as they worked to establish a timeline, but police have not released a complete sequence of events leading up to the deaths.
Great Wolf Lodge said in a statement that it was deeply saddened by the incident and was cooperating with law enforcement. The resort characterized the case as an isolated family incident and expressed sympathy for the relatives and loved ones affected.
Pocono Township police said the investigation remains active. The department is working with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, the county coroner, Pennsylvania State Police forensic personnel and other agencies as investigators continue reviewing evidence in the case.
