Instagram Model Shot and Killed at Mall in Front of Her Young Child

Honolulu, Hawaii – A tragic incident unfolded at a Hawaii mall on Friday morning, when an Instagram model, Theresa “Tita” Cachuela, was allegedly shot and killed by her husband in front of their young child. Honolulu police responded to a “suspicious circumstance” call at the Pearlridge Center mall, where they discovered the lifeless body of the 33-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. The suspect, 44-year-old Jason Cachuela, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound miles away from the mall, according to Lt. Deena Thoemmes of the Honolulu Police Department.

Tragically, court records revealed that Theresa Cachuela had obtained a temporary restraining order against her husband just two days before the fatal shooting. In her request, she detailed ongoing harassment, threats of suicide, and a terrifying incident where he held a knife to his own neck. Despite the restraining order, the couple had agreed to limited contact only during custody exchanges for their children. The judge also ordered Jason Cachuela to surrender any firearms..

Theresa Cachuela, known as Bunny Bontiti on Instagram, had a following of approximately 20,000 people where she both modeled and sold eyelashes.

The investigation into this case is ongoing as authorities work to understand the events leading up to the shooting. As the community rallies to support the grieving family, this shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for awareness and action to prevent domestic violence.
