The remains were identified through dental records more than two years after the 19-year-old Milwaukee woman was killed.
CUDAHY, Wis. — Additional remains of Sade Robinson, a 19-year-old Milwaukee woman killed in 2024, have been found along the Lake Michigan shoreline, more than two years after investigators began recovering parts of her body across the region.
A person walking near Warnimont Park in Cudahy found part of Robinson’s jaw and several teeth on Oct. 30, according to Robinson’s family and local authorities. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the remains belonged to Robinson. Her family said the identification was made through dental records. The discovery renews a search that has continued since Robinson disappeared after a first date on April 1, 2024, and comes more than a year after Maxwell Anderson was convicted of killing her.
Robinson’s mother, Sheena Scarbrough, and an attorney for the family announced the discovery during a news conference Thursday. The family has continued seeking remains that were never recovered during the original investigation. Scarbrough said the latest find was emotionally difficult but expressed gratitude to the person who noticed the remains and contacted authorities. The family has asked people walking along the Lake Michigan shoreline between Cudahy and Waukegan, Illinois, to be alert for additional bones or fragments.
The discovery occurred in the same general lakefront area that figured prominently in the investigation into Robinson’s death. Robinson was reported missing April 2, 2024, after she failed to show up for work. Investigators determined she had gone on a first date with Anderson the previous evening. Surveillance footage and cellphone records presented during Anderson’s trial traced the pair from Milwaukee businesses to Anderson’s home and later placed activity connected to the case near the lakefront.
Prosecutors said Anderson killed Robinson after the date and later disposed of her remains at several locations. Her burned vehicle was found the morning after she disappeared. Over the following days and weeks, investigators recovered parts of Robinson’s body at locations in and around Milwaukee County. One of her arms later washed ashore in Waukegan, about 50 miles south of Milwaukee. Other remains were recovered closer to Milwaukee, but investigators did not find all of her remains.
A Milwaukee County jury convicted Anderson on June 6, 2025, of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, arson and hiding a corpse. Prosecutors relied on surveillance video, cellphone information, photographs and other evidence to reconstruct Robinson’s final hours. Anderson maintained that he did not kill Robinson. At sentencing, he again denied responsibility and said he planned to appeal his convictions.
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Laura Crivello sentenced Anderson on Aug. 1, 2025, to life in prison without eligibility for extended supervision on the homicide conviction. He also received additional prison terms connected to the other offenses. The hiding-a-corpse count was dismissed at sentencing after the defense argued it overlapped with the conviction for mutilating a corpse. Robinson’s relatives told the court that the absence of some of her remains had prolonged their grief and left them without the sense of closure they wanted.
The newly identified remains were found more than two years after Robinson’s death, underscoring how Lake Michigan continued to affect the recovery effort long after the criminal investigation led to a conviction. Scarbrough’s attorney said changing weather and strong waves may have brought the remains to shore. Authorities have not publicly established when the remains reached the area where they were found.
Robinson was a student at Milwaukee Area Technical College and worked two jobs before her death. Her killing drew sustained attention in Milwaukee, where relatives, community members and public officials repeatedly called for her story to remain visible as the criminal case moved through the courts. Members of her family have also continued searching for the portions of her remains that have not been recovered.
The family said additional searches of the Lake Michigan shoreline are expected following the latest discovery. Authorities have not announced that all of Robinson’s remains have been recovered, and the investigation into any newly found remains would depend on further discoveries and identification by officials.
