Lady Gaga Admited to Psych Hospital After Filming Movie

Renowned pop star Lady Gaga recently opened up about her struggles with mental health during the filming of the 2017 movie “A Star Is Born.” The Grammy-winning artist revealed that she was on mood stabilizers, specifically lithium, during the production of the film. Lithium is commonly used to manage bipolar disorder, although Gaga has not publicly disclosed any such diagnosis.

Following the completion of the film, Gaga embarked on her Joanne World Tour, which ran from August 2017 to February 2018. It was during this period that she experienced a severe mental health crisis. The singer candidly shared that her sister expressed concern over her well-being, leading Gaga to cancel the tour and seek psychiatric care.

The “Bad Romance” singer described the experience as terrifying, admitting there was a time when she doubted her ability to recover. However, she was able to receive the necessary help and was feeling better by the time “A Star Is Born” garnered eight nominations at the 91st Academy Awards in 2019. Gaga won the Oscar for Best Original Song for “Shallow.”

Reflecting on her journey, Gaga expressed gratitude for her survival, acknowledging the potential severity of mental health crises. She now considers herself a “healthy, whole person,” attributing much of her recovery to her fiancé, Michael Polansky. The couple began dating in 2020, and Polansky proposed in 2024.

Gaga credits Polansky’s genuine care and love for her as a significant factor in her healing process. She shared that his dedication to her well-being helped her realize the value of her life.

In the same interview with Rolling Stone, Gaga also discussed the disappointing performance of her 2024 film, “Joker: Folie à Deux,” at the box office. Despite the negative reactions from fans and critics, Gaga maintained a sense of humor about the situation, stating that she initially laughed at the film’s poor reception.
