Man Arrested After Informing Deputies of Body in His Trunk

A Louisiana man was apprehended on Saturday as a suspect in a murder investigation after he voluntarily informed deputies that he had a body in his trunk. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Tyler Bourgeois, was subsequently charged with second-degree murder by the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began to unfold when law enforcement received a call about a shooting. As they were en route to the reported crime scene on the 300 block of Railroad Avenue in Reserve, they were informed of an orange, four-door Dodge Charger seen departing the area immediately after the sound of gunfire was heard. Upon arrival, officers discovered several items, including a shell casing and clothing.

Within 10 minutes of their arrival at the crime scene, a patrol officer spotted the vehicle of interest in the parking lot of a nearby store on the 2700 block of West Airline Highway. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver, later identified as Bourgeois, was pulled over. According to deputies, Bourgeois was the sole occupant of the vehicle’s main cabin.

However, Bourgeois reportedly informed officers that there was a body in the trunk of his car. Upon inspection, officers discovered the deceased body of 21-year-old Tylen Anderson. Bourgeois was taken into custody and during questioning, he confessed to the murder of Anderson.

Bourgeois allegedly revealed that he and Anderson had been together in the car and had parked at the crime scene. A heated verbal argument ensued between the two, the nature of which remains unclear. At some point during the altercation, Bourgeois allegedly produced a gun and shot Anderson.

St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre described the incident as an “execution,” noting that Anderson had been shot in the temple. Bourgeois is currently being held on a $250,000 bond, according to jail records.
