SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 31-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, has been arrested after allegedly stabbing and slashing the throat of a woman, leaving her for dead in a pasture. The suspect, identified as Roger Gonzalez, was taken into custody on Sunday following a days-long investigation by the San Antonio Police Department.
According to authorities, the victim was discovered wrapped in plastic in a rural enclave near Poteet, approximately 40 miles south of San Antonio. The woman had suffered extensive injuries, including beatings, stab wounds, and a slashed throat. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she remains in stable condition but with serious wounds.
Law enforcement officials did not disclose specific details about the tips that led them to Gonzalez at a residence in San Antonio. However, they revealed that the suspect had been in a relationship with the victim.
Notably, Gonzalez was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the alleged attack. He has a criminal history in California and has previously been convicted of drug and weapons charges in Kern County, Texas.
Gonzalez has been charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the recent incident. As of Tuesday, he remained in detention at the Atacosa County Jail, with a bond set at $275,000.
