A shocking incident unfolded in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens, where a man is alleged to have fatally stabbed his wife and their two-year-old daughter before attempting suicide, as per law enforcement sources. The 54-year-old man, whose name has not been disclosed, is said to have attacked his 41-year-old wife and their young child with a kitchen knife, causing severe injuries to their necks and chests. The tragic event took place at their home on a recent Saturday.
The quiet, working-class community was left reeling from the horrific act. A local resident, who introduced himself as Andres, voiced his shock, saying, “It’s shocking, you know, that it happens right next door to you. I guess, you don’t know who your neighbors are.”
Following the assault, the woman was immediately transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was later declared dead. The toddler was rushed to Wykoff Heights Medical Center in a critical state, but sadly, she did not survive her injuries and passed away later that night.
The alleged assailant, also in critical condition, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. A kitchen knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered from the scene by the authorities.
Neighbors reported no signs of disturbance from the family’s apartment on the day of the incident. One resident, who shares a wall with the family’s apartment, recalled hearing the man singing in the shower that morning, seemingly unaware of the horrific act he was about to commit. The neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their disbelief, saying, “Like he was starting a normal day. Singing a happy song. You don’t hear the fights, you don’t hear anything.”
The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the fatal attack.
