A North Carolina man, recently released from prison, is back in custody after being accused of killing his mother and younger brother. Da’Ron Donta Jenkins, 25, had only been home in Wilson, North Carolina, for a few days when police were called to the residence on March 31. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of Dana Jenkins, 50, and her 15-year-old son, Daryn Cox.
Authorities have identified the suspect in the alleged homicides as Dana Jenkins’ son and Daryn Cox’s older brother. Court records indicate that Da’Ron Jenkins had been released from prison just a week prior to the incident. His criminal history includes a state prison sentence for larceny of firearms and multiple convictions for breaking into vehicles.
The tragic incident has left the community in shock. Juanilla Kornegay, a cousin of Dana Jenkins who lived next door, has spoken to the media about her family’s loss. She also expressed her concerns about Da’Ron Jenkins’ behavior following his release from prison. According to Kornegay, she had noticed a change in his demeanor that suggested he might be planning something, although she had no idea of the horrific events that were to unfold.
Da’Ron Jenkins made his initial court appearance on April 1 and is currently being held at the Wilson County Jail without bond. The investigation into the deaths of Dana Jenkins and Daryn Cox is still ongoing, as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident.
