Man Murders Roommate, Disposes of Body Off Bridge

A 66-year-old Texas man, Dennis William Day, is currently in police custody after confessing to the murder of his roommate, Rana Nofal Soluri, 47, and disposing of her body by throwing it off a bridge, as per the information provided by the Texas police. Day is facing a single count of murder, as reported by the Fort Worth Police Department.

Soluri, who had been missing since early March, was reported missing by a colleague earlier this month. The delay in reporting her disappearance was due to Soluri taking a leave of absence from her job as a flight attendant for a minor surgery, as per the arrest affidavit. The concerned colleague informed investigators that Soluri was supposed to return to work by March 31, but she never did.

The police initiated a missing person investigation, with Day quickly becoming a person of interest. The colleague informed law enforcement that Soluri and Day had been living together for about a year. She also provided a video dated March 19, which allegedly showed Soluri and her handgun, with a man’s voice heard shouting off-camera.

Further investigation revealed that Soluri had not traveled by airplane for either work or personal reasons since October 2024, which was unusual for her. In May, Soluri’s vehicle was towed from Day’s residence. Day claimed the vehicle had been parked for about two months, which coincided with the last time he claimed to have seen Soluri.

On June 10, during a welfare check, Day described Soluri as a longtime friend and confirmed she was living with him, but insisted he had not seen or heard from her for three months. On June 18, a search warrant was executed on Soluri’s cellphone, which showed her last phone call was made on March 21.

On June 23, police met with Day at his residence, where he denied any knowledge of Soluri’s disappearance. However, a search of his residence led to the discovery of video surveillance footage from the night of March 21, which allegedly showed Day dragging what appeared to be a lifeless body from the home into the backyard.

Confronted with the evidence, Day confessed to the crime. He claimed that he choked Soluri to death on the kitchen floor after she threatened to call the police on him. He then dragged her body outside and disconnected the surveillance system. He later disposed of her body by throwing it off a bridge in Bowie, a small town located about 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth. He also admitted to throwing her cellphone into a river within the city limits and provided the location of Soluri’s gun, which has since been recovered.

Despite Day’s cooperation with the police, Soluri’s remains have yet to be found. Day is currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
