Chandler police officers in Arizona have arrested a 38-year-old man for shooting and murdering his wife in an apartment with their children present.
An alarmed neighbor called 911 when they heard the man, Mohammad Alkurdi, say, “I shot her,” as he left the apartment and walked towards the office, with one of the children confirming that their father had shot their mother.
Upon arriving, police found Alkurdi with a gun and his four children, who were all under the age of nine.
Detectives discovered that at least two shots were fired, and a gun was confiscated from the scene. Court records revealed that Alkurdi had a history of domestic violence and had bought a gun shortly before the shooting.
He has been charged with first-degree homicide, and child endangerment charges are also possible. The name of the victim has not yet been released as authorities are still in the process of notifying loved ones overseas.
