A man from Texas is currently in custody after allegedly shooting his neighbor over a dispute about her horse’s weight. Lee David Strole, 39, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident that took place in the rural community of Leggett, north of Livingston, on October 15, according to local law enforcement.
In addition to the charges related to the shooting, Strole is also wanted in Harris County for an unrelated aggravated assault of a family member. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call on Wilson Road, where they discovered a woman with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim informed investigators that the shooting occurred during a disagreement over the feeding of her horse, which was housed on Strole’s property with his consent. She stated that Strole was unhappy with her continued feeding of the horse, expressing concern that the animal was becoming overweight, as per the police records.
Following the incident, law enforcement established a perimeter around Strole’s residence while they secured a search warrant. Inside the home, they found evidence linking Strole to the shooting. Strole was later located in a wooded area near his residence and was arrested without any complications. He is currently being held in Polk County jail without bond.
The woman who was shot survived the incident, but there have been no updates on her condition from the authorities. Additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting or whether Strole has obtained legal representation have not been released.
