Man Shot Woman in the Forehead

A man from Indiana is facing charges of murder after allegedly shooting a woman in the forehead, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. The accused, 28-year-old Antres Holliness-Ransom, is suspected of killing Jasmine Haywood, also 28, last week.

Haywood’s body was discovered shortly before midnight on October 17 in an apartment located on Schele Avenue in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was found on the bedroom floor with a gunshot wound to her forehead and severe facial injuries, as per court records.

The apartment’s tenant allowed investigators to conduct a search, which led to the discovery of a blood-stained Glock between Haywood’s feet, a shell casing in a dresser drawer, and a semi-automatic rifle with a defaced serial number under the bed.

Further investigation revealed blood and tissue in a dresser drawer, believed to be from Haywood’s face. However, authorities noted the absence of Haywood’s phone, which she was seen carrying on surveillance footage on the day of her death.

A breakthrough in the case came in the form of a text message from an unidentified individual who claimed to have knowledge about the crime. The text message, sent to a detective, suggested that the sender and others were held captive in an apartment by two men, one of whom allegedly assaulted Haywood over a debt.

An autopsy confirmed that Haywood died from a gunshot wound to the forehead. Surveillance footage also placed a car, driven by Holliness-Ransom, at the apartment building around the time Haywood is believed to have been killed. Additionally, police were able to link the victim’s missing phone to Holliness-Ransom.

When questioned, the text message sender identified Holliness-Ransom as the shooter. Holliness-Ransom was subsequently charged with murder and is currently being held without bond at the Allen County Confinement Facility. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
