A Minnesota resident, Saleebaan Mohamed Abdirisaaq, 26, is facing a hefty bail amount if he wishes to be released from jail after allegedly murdering his pregnant wife. During a bond hearing conducted remotely on Friday, the judge set Abdirisaaq’s bail at $6 million without conditions and $4 million with conditions. Abdirisaaq was taken into custody following a call he made to the police from an apartment in St. Cloud late Tuesday night.
According to the criminal complaint, Abdirisaaq informed the dispatchers that “someone died” and expressed his intention to surrender himself. He requested the police to visit the apartment to “just come see.” The victim was identified as 24-year-old Falus A. Ali, who was 17 weeks pregnant and referred to by Abdirisaaq as his “wife.”
The complaint further detailed that Ali was declared dead upon arrival at St. Cloud Hospital, having been allegedly stabbed 34 times. The police discovered her body in the living room of the apartment, surrounded by blood. The wounds were visible on various parts of her body including her neck, shoulders, arms, chest, left breast, and jaw. Abdirisaaq reportedly told the 911 operator that she had died 20 minutes prior to his call.
The police found a 5-inch, blood-covered, serrated kitchen knife near Ali’s body. The couple’s 3-year-old child was found on the apartment’s patio with Abdirisaaq and was later placed in the care of other family members. The child was reportedly heard talking about Abdirisaaq “punching” Ali, while making a fist motion towards the neck. The complaint noted that Ali had a significant number of stab wounds on the right side of her neck.
Abdirisaaq’s brother informed the police that he received a call from Abdirisaaq confessing that he “killed his wife with a knife.” The brother also revealed that the couple had a documented history of domestic violence. In February, Abdirisaaq was found guilty of violating a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order (DANCO) in Sherburne County. He was also arrested for making threats of violence against Ali in Hennepin County in September 2024. He had been released from custody on the condition that he not contact Ali.
Abdirisaaq is currently facing four counts of second-degree murder and remains in custody on $6 million bail without conditions and $4 million bail with conditions. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 7.
