Mass Shooting in Tourist Area Leaves One Dead, 11 Injured

A mass shooting in the popular tourist destination of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, resulted in one fatality and 11 injuries on Saturday night. The incident took place on North Ocean Boulevard, a bustling area near the beach, around 11:50 p.m. According to local authorities, a disturbance involving several individuals escalated when one person began firing a weapon.

In response to the gunfire, a police officer on the scene returned fire, fatally wounding one individual. The shooting took place near the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not attraction, a popular spot just off the beach.

Footage of the incident has been circulating on social media, showing a person lying face down on the sidewalk, restrained by two officers. Another video shows a woman clutching her leg and screaming, with two officers nearby seemingly providing aid.

Eyewitness Michael Howard recounted the terrifying scene to ABC 15. He described hearing gunfire erupting and seeing a woman fall after being hit. He also saw the individual who had been shot by the police fall to the ground. Howard described the scene as traumatizing, with blood everywhere.

The incident has shaken the popular tourist destination, known for its sandy beaches and family-friendly attractions. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the events that led to the tragic incident.
