Mass Shooting Leaves One Dead, 11 Injured

A mass shooting in the Hickory region of North Carolina has left one person dead and 11 others injured, as reported by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred early Sunday morning in the Mountain View community of southwest Catawba County.

The Sheriff’s Office, along with the Hickory Police Department, responded to a distress call at 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The call led them to a residence on Walnut Acres Drive where multiple individuals had been shot.

At the time of the report, 12 victims had been identified. One of these victims had succumbed to their injuries, while another was in critical condition. Several others were still receiving treatment in the hospital.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Hickory Police Department and Special Agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, are currently investigating the incident. Their efforts are focused on establishing a motive for the shooting and identifying the individuals responsible.

As of the time of the report, no arrests had been made. The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
