The arrest was filmed by a local cab driver, Viorel Turturica, who recounted the suspect repeatedly screaming “kill me, kill me, kill me.”
The footage, later disseminated to the Sun, depicts the suspect being forcefully subdued on the train platform by multiple armed officers and a police canine. As the suspect appears to resist arrest, the discharge of a Taser is audible. Officers can be heard issuing directives such as “Get him in a hold!” and “Give me your hands now,” while another officer requests handcuffs.
The suspect was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder following the assault on a London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train. The train, which was traveling from Doncaster in northern England to London’s King’s Cross station, was stopped at Huntingdon after emergency services received reports of a widespread knife attack onboard.
Turturica, who was awaiting a passenger at Huntingdon station, was a witness to the ensuing pandemonium. He recounted seeing individuals fleeing the station in terror, pursued by a man dressed in black brandishing a large kitchen knife. The police arrived shortly thereafter, and Turturica reported hearing the suspect shouting “kill me, kill me, kill me” at the officers. The police then deployed a Taser on the suspect, and once he was restrained, they commanded him to relinquish his weapon. It was at this juncture that Turturica began documenting the incident.
The event has left the local community reeling, and an investigation is currently in progress to ascertain the motive behind the attack. The suspect remains in custody, and the victims are receiving medical care. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the potential dangers that can occur in public spaces, and the courage of law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to safeguard the public.
