A man from Georgia is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly shooting and killing his coworker in a McDonald’s parking lot following a work-related dispute. The incident occurred on February 19 in Lawrenceville, with the accused, Michael Allen Todd, 40, not resisting arrest when Gwinnett County Police officers arrived at the scene.
The victim, identified as Donald Stewart, 43, was found with a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. According to a statement released by the police on Facebook, Todd was Stewart’s supervisor, and the shooting was the result of a disagreement about their job. The police clarified that the argument was not related to McDonald’s, and neither of the men were employees of the restaurant. The specifics of their employment have not been disclosed.
The police were alerted to the incident around noon on February 19, following a call reporting a shooting at the McDonald’s on Sugarloaf Parkway. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Stewart with a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Todd, who remained at the scene, was reportedly cooperative during the police questioning. He was subsequently arrested and charged with several felonies, including malice murder and felony murder. The police have not disclosed the specifics of the argument that led to the shooting, only stating that it was related to the men’s place of employment.
The police have stated that the shooting was an isolated incident and there are no other suspects. Todd is currently being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail. His charges include two counts of aggravated assault, one count of malice murder, one count of felony murder, and one count of possession of a firearm during commission.
